About this event

The Conservative Mexico Policy Coalition, in conjunction with the Olavo de Carvalho Dialogue of U.S. and Latin America Conservatives and under the aegis of the Texas Public Policy Foundation, is excited to announce the first U.S. - Mexico Policy Summit. This summit will be held at TPPF’s headquarters in Austin, Texas, on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, from 8:00AM to 4:30PM, and lunch and breakfast will be provided. The evening before, on Tuesday, November 7 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM, there will be a live recording of TPPF’s “The Hard Country” podcast, where Joshua Treviño and Melissa Ford Maldonado will discuss U.S. - Mexico relations and take questions from the audience. Light appetizers and drinks will be provided.

On December 12, 2022, the United States and Mexico commemorated an important milestone: two hundred years of diplomatic relations and mutual recognition. Unfortunately, the anniversary comes at a time when that relationship is descending into a crisis unseen in over a century. The Mexican state is descending into authoritarianism, criminality, and overt anti-Americanism — and federal policymaking in Washington, D.C., is slow to respond to these new realities. Both Mexicans and Americans suffer from this emerging paradigm, and it is past time for policymakers to react.

This summit will discuss the state of affairs in Mexico, the effect on U.S. - Mexico relations, and the proper American (and Texan) response to it. The summit will consist of multiple panel discussions and keynote speakers, and topics discussed will include immigration, border security, drug trafficking, transnational crime, diplomatic relations and bilateral agreements, and regional security and stability. We invite you to attend this summit to contribute your perspective to the conversation and further advance solutions to the policy issues we face.

We sincerely hope you will be able to join us for these timely and important discussions on November 7th-8th. There are four RSVP Options: 1) 11/7 Only, 2) 11/8 Only, 3) Both 11/7 & 11/8, and 4) Online only for 11/8. When you RSVP, you will receive more event information and a reminder before the event.
